Cythera offers a variety of free group programs and workshops designed to support individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, abuse, and trauma. Whether you’re looking for a space to connect with others who understand, explore healthy relationships, or build confidence as a parent, we’re here and ready to hold space for you.
We offer drop-in sessions, closed workshops, and multi-week programs for women, caregivers, children, and youth - each one guided by compassionate facilitators in a safe and supportive environment.

Parent & Caregivers Drop-In Support Group
From Apr 2, 2025 to Mar 18, 2026 (Wednesdays 9:30AM - 11:30 AM)
Our Parents & Caregivers drop-in support group is a safe place to share experiences, make connections, find understanding and empower each other. Facilitated by PEACE Counsellors, this group provides support, psycho-education and advocacy.
Drop-in Support Group
From Apr 3, 2025 to Mar 26, 2026 (Thursdays 4:30PM - 6:30PM)
Our drop-in group provide an opportunity to witness, share and connect with other women who have experienced intimate partner violence, abuse and sexual assault. Sharing takes many forms, emphasizing “headlines” over details. Support will be experienced by witnessing, expressing feelings and giving space for community. Support includes opportunities for learning from each other and facilitators who will share psycho-educational information, tools and resources. This group is designed meet the unique needs of individuals as well as the collective community.
When Love Hurts
From Oct 1 to Dec 17, 20205 (Wednesdays 4:30PM - 6:3PM)
When Love Hurts offers women a unique opportunity to evaluate their relationship and experience with abuse. Participants will build connections with other women and learn more about relationship abuse and its impacts on their lives. Registration is required.
PEACE Camp 10-12 years
From Nov 7, 2025 to Dec 19, 2025 ( Fridays 2:00PM - 4:00PM)
This camp offers children & youth, impacted by domestic violence offers valuable psycho-education to children opportunities for:
• Understanding what abuse is, that they are not alone, and that the violence is not their fault
• Identifying support networks and develop a safety plan
• Identifying their feelings and express them in healthy ways
• Recognizing their strengths and increase their self-confidence
PEACE Group 5-6 years
From Feb 3, 2026 to Mar 10, 2026 (Tuesdays 2:00PM - 4:00PM)
This group offers children & youth, impacted by domestic violence offers valuable psycho-education to children opportunities for:
• Understanding what abuse is, that they are not alone, and that the violence is not their fault
• Identifying support networks and develop a safety plan
• Identifying their feelings and express them in healthy ways
• Recognizing their strengths and increase their self-confidence

Mother Goose and RISE & Shine Family Drop-in
Join us Friday mornings for some exciting parent child play time, each Friday we will offer 2-hours of play time that will include The Parent-Child Mother Goose Program®and RISE & Shine Family drop-in. This group is for parents and their babies and young children (0-6 years). The program introduces adults and children to the pleasure and power of using rhymes, songs, stories and play.
Parents gain skills and confidence which can enable them to create positive family patterns during their children’s crucial early years. Children benefit from enjoyable, healthy early experiences with language and communication.

Drop-in Support Group
NOVEMBER 20, 2025 - IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING TEMPORARY CANCELLATION OF GROUP
We recognize how important these groups are for connection, support, and community, and we are grateful for everyone who participates. Due to staffing changes, the Thursday evening Drop-In Support Group, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., will be paused effective immediately. Please note that the Tuesday morning Drop-In Support Group, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., will continue as scheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding. We will share updates as soon as the Thursday group resumes and look forward to connecting with you again soon.

Coping Skills and Mindfulness
Mindful practice is all about you – learning from your own experiences and observations about your own mind, your own body, and your own life. This fun and unique workshop offers mindfulness-based techniques that can help you find the strength you didn’t know you had to help keep stress from getting the best of you because what we do today matters most.

Understanding Our Trauma
Understanding Our Trauma is a 10 week group facilitating awareness and tools to understand and respond to healing from trauma. Some of the topics include trauma responses, managing triggers, emotional & body regulation, and methods of healing. The group features psycho-education, discussion and exercises. The practice activities provide tools for helping to regain a sense of empowerment over our own bodies and facilitate personal healing and growth.

PEACE Parent Group
This 6 week group is intended to build and expand on the information provided in the PEACE Parent Orientation and to facilitate connections with other parents/caregivers. Each Session will be divided into two parts: 1) Understanding Impacts: provides a deeper look at how domestic violence can impact the development of children/youth and the roles of parents/caregivers. 2) Helping Children Heal: will provide parents/caregivers with strategies that can support their children in their healing journey.

Recognition & Restoration Workshop
Let’s come together for a little “R & R”
Join us each morning in learning to understand the dynamics of abuse and how it impacts your mind and body (Recognition). We will discuss various topics including the Cycle of Abuse, impacts and myths and misconceptions about abuse. Stay for the afternoon where we will explore various mindful practices and coping strategies to soothe your soul (Restoration). This workshop is a hybrid of our Coping Skills and When Love Hurts groups.
