Bernice Gehring Second Stage Housing
A Supportive Home to Heal, Grow, and Embrace New Possibilities
Leaving a harmful situation can be overwhelming, and finding safe, steady space to continue your journey toward independence is essential. The Bernice Gehring Second Stage Program offers 14 beds of supportive, confidential housing for women and children who have experienced gender-based violence and abuse.
Here, families have the time, resources, and guidance to heal, strengthen life skills, and build connections within the community. The second stage housing program offers stays of up to 18 months, a stepping stone toward bright and confident futures for families.
What to Expect When You Arrive
Every participant in the Bernice Gehring Second-Stage Housing Program is welcomed into a safe, confidential, and nurturing environment. You can expect:
Independent, furnished units with rent geared to income or
support through income assistance
Self-contained living that balances privacy and connection
Onsite support staff seven days a week, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Shared amenity spaces, including rooftop and gathering areas for families
Laundry facilities on every floor
The program is designed to feel like a reliable, steady place to land, a space where you and your children can feel safe, cared for, and supported throughout the entirety of your stay while building the confidence to take the next steps in your life.

Who is Eligible?
Self-identifying women (with or without children) impacted by gender-based violence and abuse
Referral from a first-stage transition house
Please review our pet policy for allowances.
Second Stage Housing - Program Requirements
Participants are asked to:
Actively engage in the program and attend weekly one-on-one meetings
Participate in workshops, activities (including children when possible)
An opportunity for releasing, reclaiming, and rebuilding.
